A True “Hero” Visits B.D. Student Body

Nearly two years since her last visit to B.D.H.S., 4 year old Abby McGowan returned to our school. She brought her mom, Melissa and sisters, Rees(Theresa) and Josie, and Grandma Kim (Kreitzer). Wheelchair bound two years ago, Abby is now running and playing games with her little sisters. Abby was born with Pfeiffer Syndrome (a craniofacial syndrome) and she has successfully undergone many surgeries and procedures already in her young life.

The B.D. family has supported Abby and her family for the past 4 years holding them up in daily prayer and making cards & prayer chains for her hospital stays. She led our entire student body in the Pledge of Allegiance. Please join our students as we continue to pray for the McGowan family and for continued good health and progress.

Abby has invited the Bishop Donahue students and faculty to submit entries for a Design-a-T-shirt contest for “Born a Hero.” “Born a Hero” is a non-profit organization created to support individuals and families affected by Pfeiffer Syndrome. Melissa is Pennsylvania’s state representative for this organization. Abby will choose the winning entry (with her mom’s guidance, of course). Then these T-shirts will be for sale to raise funds for the work of “Born a Hero.” March 8, 2017 is the deadline to submit entries either by email or a hard copy to Mrs. Granato.
