Immunization-Color-hi-resWV state law requires that all students entering 12th grade show proof that they have had their Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) shot in addition to their MCV4 or Meningitis shot(s).

High school seniors will need a second dose of MCV4 or the meningitis vaccine if the first shot was received before their 16th birthday.  Students entering the 12th grade are reminded that these immunizations are required before school begins August 18th. Please contact your family physician or your county Health Dept. and return a record of your visit to the school.

Concussion IMPACT Testing for Athletes

brainThere will be IMPACT (baseline concussion) testing taking place in the school computer lab on Tuesday, August 5th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This is mandatory for all incoming freshmen and current juniors, as well as any student-athlete who has not yet been IMPACT tested. Please be on time with your appropriate team. The schedule for the day is as follows:

10:00am. Football

10:30am: Volleyball

11:00am: Cheering

11:30am: Boys Basketball & Wrestling

12:00pm: Girls Basketball

12:30pm: Any Spring Sport Participants  

1:00pm: Golf      

If you play multiple sports, you only need to be tested once. Please pick the appropriate time slot to be tested. If you are interested in playing any sports, please come and be tested.

Welcome to the 2014-15 School Year!

wbWelcome to the 2014-15 school year! The first day of school is quickly approaching and we are looking forward to another outstanding year!  Our parents are invited and welcome to ALL school events during the school year, especially weekly student-led liturgies, celebrated every Friday at 8:30 a.m. at St. James Church.

2014-15 marks the 3rd year of our 1 to 1 iPad program.  Last year, B.D.H.S. became the first high school in WV to be 100% digital. Our innovative CYBER DAYS has eliminated snow days from the school calendar. The iPad program provides the most current, relevant and interactive educational materials available for students today. Please take time to read carefully and familiarize yourself with the iPad information on our website.

Please welcome Miss Alexis George (English), Mr. Gary Gil (Math),) and Mr. Jarett Kuhns (Science) to our staff.  We are blessed to have such a talented and dedicated staff.


August 12th… Faculty Spiritual Retreat at Mount St. Joseph. SCHOOL CLOSED SO ALL STAFF CAN ATTEND. 

August 13th… Faculty Orientation 8:30 to 2:30.

August 14th….Faculty Orientation 8:30 to 2:30.

August 15th….Student Orientation with Faculty, schedule below.

-9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. …..Orientation for all Freshmen and first year B.D. students (regardless of class) in the cafeteria.   Neat casual dress is required (no jeans or shorts).

-11:00  a.m. to 12:30…. Freshmen and new students iPad orientation with Mr. Harvey, Mr. Wise and faculty. Students will need their iTunes username, password and their iPad case. Students cannot take the iPad home without a case or the parent signed Acceptable Use Policy and B.D.H.S. iPad Agreement Form. These documents are available on our school website for download (iPad Program link).

-12:30 pm to 2:30 pm…..Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors may pick up their class schedules and iPads in the office. The schedules will also be available on MSP.

August 18th..First full day of school, warning bell at 8:15 a.m. School uniforms are required for all students (see Student-Parent handbook on website for Dress Code).  School ties are available in the office for $20.

August 22nd….  Friday Mass at 8:30 at St. James Church,  all parents welcome.  We will also hold our first Green and Gold Spirit Day (see Student-Parent handbook for guidelines).

August 23rd…. Steak Fry in gym sponsored by B.D.H.S. Football team and Cheerleaders.

August 29th… Friday Mass at 8:30 at St. James Church,  all parents welcome. .  Green and Gold Spirit Day!  Come out and cheer on the BISHOPS as the football teams kicks off their season @ Cameron.

Catholic families can apply for tuition assistance through the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston TAP (Tuition Assistance) program. Those who qualify may have up to half of their tuition paid for by the Diocese. The DEADLINE for applying is FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 2014.  Please apply ASAP to allow for verification time. Jena Saseen (`06), Named Principal at Our Lady of Fatima in Huntington

Jena_SaseenCongratulations to B.D.H.S. alum Jena Saseen(`06) who was recently selected as the new Principal at Our Lady of Fatima elementary school in Huntington, WV.  Jena becomes the third Donahue grad who is currently serving as a Diocesan Principal, joining Mr. Wise(`76), and Artie Moore(`93), who is the Principal at St. Francis de Sales in Morgantown.  Best of luck Jena, you are in our thoughts and prayers!
