Sophomore Kyle Swann has become the “go to” guy for students and staff when it comes to technology issues. Kyle is not simply a student who knows a great deal about technology, he also is a technology innovator. Recently, Kyle had been looking for a PDA that would sync with his Windows 8 phone but would also be affordable. After comparison shopping, he found a Vizio tablet on sale for $150 which also ran the Android Operating System, an easily modifiable Operating System. After purchasing the device Kyle began his modification of the tablet by removing Visio Launcher, yet he still had not found the functionality he required. Thus began his long journey to learn how to replace the entire Android Operating System. His search ended on a small Japanese tablet site where he learned a safe procedure to remove the existing Android OS, configure his own custom settings, and flash the tablet with a Linux ROM, a version of the Linux Operating System created by third party users for use on Tablets. After flashing the ROM, he restored the tablet, and is now the proud owner of his own tricked out, fully customized Linux Tablet.

On Monday, December 9, the Bishop Donahue Family celebrated the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Church doctrine tells us that Mary was conceived by God, sparing her from the stain of Original Sin so that she would provide a pure vessel through which our Lord would come into the world as a human being. We celebrated with a prayer service led by four faculty members and six students. As a school in the Marist Tradition with an eye toward the intercession of our Blessed Mother, it seemed only fitting that we honor Mary in a special way. The faculty and some of the students further shared in the celebration by adding blue to their uniforms, serving as our reminder that today truly it is a special day for Mary and for Mother Church.
Bishop Donahue students recently helped the law firm of Gold, Khourey and Turak prepare for Christmas by decorating their indoor trees and preparing gift bags for LIGHT UP NIGHT. Gold, Khourey and Turak have been long standing Partners in Education with B.D. and Mr. Jonathan Turak is a member of our School Board. Special thanks to B.D. students David Beazel, Zoey Gast, Victoria Potts, Hanna Little, Kacie Rhome, Matt Vucelik, Rebekah Trader and Gabe Mickey who volunteered their services.
