B.D. Students Sweep Marshall County Young Writers Contest in Grades 11-12

Congratulations to B.D.H.S. students who swept the top four spots in the grades 11-12 Marshall County Young Writers contest.  Our winners include: Alyssa Ehni- Honorable Mention, Madyson Keller-Third Place, Megan Stout-Second Place, and Lillian West, who took top honors and will now compete at the statewide competition.

Students were first selected school winners, and then were submitted to the county. Submissions were accepted on any topic and in any prose genre: fiction, nonfiction, narrative, memoir, or essay. Leaders from the Central West Virginia Writing Project (CWVWP) at Marshall University judged the entries on the following criteria: Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions.
