Marist Brothers Lead Retreat to Begin School Year for Faculty and Staff

bunchThe Bishop Donahue faculty and staff  began the 2016-17 school year with a Marist led retreat at the Mount St. Joseph Retreat Center on August 8. The  annual retreat was facilitated by Marist community members Maureen Hagan, BD’s own Br. Dan O’Riordan, and as a great surprise to all, former BD principal Br. Rene Roy.

The theme of the retreat was GATHERING at the TABLE.  There was music singing, communal prayer, private prayer/meditation, small group discussion, pair sharing, and a ritual hand-washing ceremony.  This same retreat will be offered to the other Marist schools across the U.S. as the most fitting way to kick off a new school year and the Marist Brothers 200th Anniversary year!

Upon completion of the retreat, faculty and staff are re-energized and recommitted to our students, parents, greater BD family & friends, and each other to make 2016-2017 a banner year for all!  In the Marist tradition we strive to make Jesus known and loved  and we continue our Bishop Donahue mission of “ENTER to learn Christ and EXIT to serve CHRIST!”
