On November 2nd, BD Spanish class students and visiting St. Vincent’s students celebrated the traditional and honored holiday of Mexico called Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. It is a beloved holiday in which Mexicans honor and pray for the souls of their dearly departed, believing they return for a brief visit on this one day. It is a very festive holiday with special foods, music, and decorations. Many make altars that contain offerings, mementos, and pictures of their deceased family and friends. Students helped to make it a happy fiesta by creating artwork and bringing in Mexican foods which were enjoyed by all! Christy Beverage also lent her artistic talents by doing traditional Mexican face painting on willing students and Spanish teacher, Ms. Ray.
